What is the typical ROI rate for direct mail? 2017-02-09T15:26:54-04:00

Average returns are about 2%. Financial services are typically lower. Food services are typically higher.

You need to manage three variables to increase your rate of return:

  1. Have a mail piece that is easy to read and appealing to your target audience.
  2. Make sure you are using a good mailing list.
  3. Provide an offer that is compelling enough to make the recipient respond. ( If you have to spend $100 to get a glass of sweet tea – you are probably not going to have great redemption.)

Submitting a Press Quality PDF for printing. 2017-02-09T15:26:54-04:00

A PDF file can be created using many different methods, some applications use a built-in PDF converter, and some have only the ability to print out a postscript file through the print menu. There are also online pdf converters. Be sure to choose PRESS QUALITY PDF when outputting your file. Include bleeds in your pdf output where appropriate.

If you have the Adobe Acrobat Professional software (this is not the same as Adobe Acrobat Reader), you can create a PDF from ANY application that supports printing. To create a PDF, simply choose “Adobe PDF” as your printer.

Upload your PDF artwork.

What is a indicia? 2017-02-09T15:26:54-04:00

indicia exampleAn indicia is the pre-printed postage box typically found in the upper right hand corner of the mail panel side of your mailing piece. It communicates the class of mail, the permit holder’s account number, and the permit holders mail entry city. The indicia acts as the stamp or the meter strip for postage. It does not change or save on your cost of postage, however, if it is applied to the mail panel at the time of printing it saves on the cost of applying postage to the mail piece.
